Since the whales featured in the factory previs are just stand-ins, I have been working on some concept art - Here's an example showing the whales in their natural environment on the planet of Lankiveil - not trying to go too bizarre as the audience has to be able to work out what it is in the few seconds its on screen. This one is sort of a killer whale/humpback/blue whale mash up.
You should really check out Wreckamovie for help on this project.

Hi David,
ReplyDeleteHad a look over at wreck a movie... still trying to work out if it would be of benefit or not as this sort of thing is not quite the type of production they are targeting there I think.

Sasha,
ReplyDeleteGreetings. I can't believe how ambitious this project is, I'm very excited. At the core I've always felt Lynch's movie has some unbelievably strong casting and visual moments. Looking forward to each step of your work.
Cheers
Matt
The land whales from the book cover of Micheal Moorcock's Ice Schooner. They have fur.

In books, Whales are fur. And are called Bjondax Whales.
